The commitment to the administration of the Brazilian Academy of Nursing History - ABRADHENF, initiated by Taka Oguisso RN, PHD, followed by Fernando Porto RN, BA, PHD, should continue without interruption, as has occurred in the last eight years, since its creation in 2010. Therefore, this board of directors, upon assuming, undertakes to fulfill its main purpose of promoting advances in the development of Nursing History, making it relevant to understand the past, interpret the present and influence the future. In addition to supporting research groups on the History of Nursing registered or not, in financial agencies of research, promoting scientific research, integrate national and international entities of History of Nursing and all activities relevant to the dissemination and strengthening of Nursing History.
Almerinda Moreira RN, PhD (president)
Almerinda Moreira is RN, degree of Nursing and Midwifery School of Nursing by Alfredo Pinto (1975), Masters in Nursing from the Federal University of the State of Rio de Janeiro (Universidade Federal do Estado do Rio de Janeiro-UNIRIO) (1990) and PhD in Nursing from the University of São Paulo (Universidade de São Paulo – USP) (2003). Currently is Full Professor at the Federal University of the State of Rio de Janeiro (Universidade Federal do Estado do Rio de Janeiro-UNIRIO ), occupying the position of Director of the School of Nursing Alfredo Pinto (Universidade Federal do Estado do Rio de Janeiro-UNIRIO) from 2012 to 2016. Efective member of the Brazilian Nursing Association (Associação Brasileira de Enfermagem – Rio de Janeiro) and President of the Brazilian Academy of Nursing History 2016-2018 (Academia Brasileira de História da Enfermagem - ABRADHENF). Founding Member of the Research Laboratory of History of Laphe (School of Nursing by Alfredo Pinto/ Universidade Federal do Estado do Rio de Janeiro-UNIRIO). Member of the Laboratory for Research on the History of Nursing (Laboratório de Estudos em História da Enfermagem - LAESHE) from University of São Paulo at Ribeirão Preto College of Nursing -WHO Collaborating Centre for Nursing Research Development, Brazil. Supervisor of dissertations, monographs of expertise, scientific initiation papers and undergraduate term papers. Event organizer of eight editions of Meeting of Researchers and Teachers of History of Nursing and Shows Scientific Production History of Nursing in Rio de Janeiro. Author of books on History of Nursing. Experience in nursing, with emphasis on Medical-Surgical Nursing, acting on the following topics: history of nursing - school, history of the profession.
The Brazilian Academy of Nursing History - ABRADHENF, founded in fact on August 13, 2010, aims to promote advances in the development of Nursing History, making it relevant to understand the past, interpret the present and influence the future. In this sense, it seeks the mutual collaboration of different areas, carries out activities of teaching, dissemination and updating, through scientific meetings, encourages research of excellence, as well as preventive conservation and adequate guarding of historical sources, defends the teaching of Nursing History in curricula undergraduate and postgraduate programs, promotes the recognition of researchers whose careers have contributed to the development of the area, as well as support new groups.
The History of Nursing allows a critical look at the profession, awakening values of belonging, professional identity and increased self-esteem. In addition, it can be an important tool for retention of students, to awaken talents for research and political participation in social and category movements, where nursing is inserted.
