A Message From The President

Being in the position of president of the Brazilian Academy of Nursing History - ABRADHENF is being in a position of extreme responsibility in defending the history of the Nursing profession. It is a source of pride to continue the work of many and especially the efforts of our pioneer and founder of the Academy  Profa.Taka Oguisso.
In its history, ABRADHENF has developed activities and events to prioritize the History of Nursing, to this end it has brought together national and international researchers and supporters of History with the aim of giving visibility and valuing the history of Nursing.
We take on this role with the responsibility of seeking upward growth for the Academy.

Curriculum

Degree in Nursing from the University of Vale do Rio dos Sinos-UNISINOS (1988); Full Degree in Nursing from UNISINOS (1990); Master's Degree in Nursing from the Federal University of Santa Catarina-UFSC, (2002). PhD in Nursing from the Postgraduate Program of the Nursing Department of the Federal University of Santa Catarina-UFSC (2007). Until 2014, he worked as a nurse at the Emergency Hospital of Porto Alegre City Hall. Professor of undergraduate nursing at Centro Universitário Metodista IPA from 2007 to 2012. Permanent Professor of the Postgraduate Program in Nursing at UNISINOS, working alongside the Professional Master's Degree from 2015 to 2022. President of the Brazilian Nursing Association RS Section, during the periods: 1995-1998;2004-2007;2013-2016 and 2019-2020. Editor-in-chief of the Revista Brasileira de Enfermagem from 1998 to 2004. Founding member of the Ibero-American Council of Editors of Nursing Magazines (2003); Coordinator of the National Forum of Nursing Magazine Editors from 1998 to 2004; vice-coordinator of the same Forum from 2010 to 2013. Editor of the Revista Panamericana de Enfermería of the Federación Panamericana de Profesionales de Enfermería- FEPPEN (2003-2007). Editor-in-chief of the Revista Enfermagem em Foco of the Federal Nursing Council-COFEN (2009-2019). Member of the Editorial Board of the Journals: Nursing Inquiry (2005-current), Revista Enfermería Clínica de Espanha (2002-current), Revista Brasileira de Enfermagem, Revista Baiana de Enfermagem. Reviewer of the Journal Texto & Contexto Enfermagem of the Federal University of Santa Catarina (2009-current), Revista Gaúcha de Enfermagem, Here- Electronic Journal of the History of Nursing and the Center for Studies in the History of Brazilian Nursing (2005-current) (NEPHEBRAS) from the Anna Nery School of the Federal University of Rio de Janeiro-UFRJ. Member of the GEHCES Research Group at the Federal University of Santa Catarina (2000-current). Advisor to the RS State Health Council (1998-2018) and member of the State STD/AIDS Commission (2008-2015). Member of the board of directors of the Brazilian Academy of Nursing History-ABRADENF. Has experience in the area of ??Nursing, with an emphasis on publications, working mainly on the following topics: nursing education, history of nursing, nursing legislation, organization of scientific events, nursing in urgency and emergency, professional nursing marketing, nursing publications and nursing journals, organization of scientific text, publishing of books and magazines. In recent years he has focused his research on trends in the publishing world and publications, with emphasis on: predatory journals and publishers, research integrity, peer review and scientific communication. Leader of the Study and Research Group on Nursing Care-GEPECEN, until 2022.

The Brazilian Academy of Nursing History - ABRADHENF, founded in fact on August 13, 2010, aims to promote advances in the development of Nursing History, making it relevant to understand the past, interpret the present and influence the future. In this sense, it seeks the mutual collaboration of different areas, carries out activities of teaching, dissemination and updating, through scientific meetings, encourages research of excellence, as well as preventive conservation and adequate guarding of historical sources, defends the teaching of Nursing History in curricula undergraduate and postgraduate programs, promotes the recognition of researchers whose careers have contributed to the development of the area, as well as support new groups.

The History of Nursing allows a critical look at the profession, awakening values of belonging, professional identity and increased self-esteem. In addition, it can be an important tool for retention of students, to awaken talents for research and political participation in social and category movements, where nursing is inserted.
