A Message From The President

To assume the presidency of the Brazilian Academy of Nursing History - ABRADHENF, on its 10th anniversary, it is a great responsibility and an honor to continue the work of Profa. Dr. Taka Oguisso, founder and creator.

Over these 10 years, ABRADHENF has fulfilled its objective of stimulating interest, education, production, and dissemination of studies in the History of Nursing, bringing together scholars in academic and scientific events, promoting the exchange of studies, ideas, and opportunities, as well as the preservation of the profession's historical and cultural heritage. ABRADHENF also seeks to support researchers and research groups.

I am also pleased to compose the Board of ABRADHENF, since its creation in 2010. I assume this responsibility in the certainty of collective construction of this administration, which I share with nationally and internationally renowned researchers, who also have an extensive history of participation and collaboration with ABRADHENF’s history.

We also commit to make efforts to collaborate with the training of teachers for the teaching and research of History of Nursing, as an essential element for political training, professional identity, and valorization of Nursing.

Curriculum

Luciana Barizon Luchesi, RN, BA, Ph.D.

Graduated in Nursing from the University of São Paulo at Ribeirão Preto School of Nursing –EERP-USP (2001), Degree in History from the University Center Barão de Mauá (2016), Specialization in Residence in Urgency and Emergency by the Department of General and Specialized Nursing at EERP-USP (2004), Master's Degree in Fundamental Nursing by EERP-USP (2005) and Doctorate in Fundamental Nursing (2008) by the EERP-USP, during which he completed a 5-month Internship in Sandwich Doctorate at the Faculty of Nursing - University of Alberta, Edmonton, Canada.

Currently is Ph.D. Professor Level 2, from Department of Psychiatric Nursing and Human Sciences, from the University of São Paulo at Ribeirão Preto School of Nursing, WHO Collaborating Center for the Development of Nursing Research, where is a professor and researcher in Nursing History, Coordinator of the Human Sciences area, Vice-President of the Executive Committee of the Memory Center of the EERP-USP and Representative of EERP-USP at the Interunits Center for the History of Science - CHC.

Dr. Luchesi is also the Leader of the CNPq Research Group Laboratory of Studies in the History of Nursing (LAESHE-www2.eerp.usp.br/laeshe and https://www.facebook.com/llaeshe) and member of the BVS Nursing Advisory Committee - Thematic Areas: History of Nursing, working mainly on the following themes: History of Nursing and Social Image of the Nurse.

The Brazilian Academy of Nursing History - ABRADHENF, founded in fact on August 13, 2010, aims to promote advances in the development of Nursing History, making it relevant to understand the past, interpret the present and influence the future. In this sense, it seeks the mutual collaboration of different areas, carries out activities of teaching, dissemination and updating, through scientific meetings, encourages research of excellence, as well as preventive conservation and adequate guarding of historical sources, defends the teaching of Nursing History in curricula undergraduate and postgraduate programs, promotes the recognition of researchers whose careers have contributed to the development of the area, as well as support new groups.

The History of Nursing allows a critical look at the profession, awakening values of belonging, professional identity and increased self-esteem. In addition, it can be an important tool for retention of students, to awaken talents for research and political participation in social and category movements, where nursing is inserted.
